Welcome to the new age

When did you last write poetry on paper?
I prefer my phone – clean lines and less scribbles,
no reliance on blunt pencils and old pens,
no merry-go-round paper hunts for ruled lines.
My writing doesn’t slant downward on my phone
even when I’m lost in thoughts of friend and foe,
places to go, and people I used to know.
When there’s a power-cut and ideas crawl
to you from dimensions you didn’t know of
and the electronic age is defined by
the blinking red light of a dying cellphone,
nothing provides more comfort than the doodles
on the corner creases of an old notebook
as you write poetry in the candlelight.
