I’m on an aeroplane
Travelling home to you
I missed you, you know that,
And maybe you missed me too?
I stare out of the window,
Trying to look up high,
I can only see a couple
Stars in the midnight sky.
But there are no clouds in sight,
So I look down below,
And when I see what I do
The seconds seem to slow.
The city light might just be
Another light in your lane,
But have you ever thought how
It looks from an aeroplane?
While on the plane if a UFO
Were to pass me by,
It would easily mistake the lights
For the diamonds in the sky.
Galaxies of tiny dots,
Floating in the dark,
Sometimes clusters, sometimes spirals
Sometimes a lonely arch.
But the stars above cannot be fooled,
Burning bright and round,
They must think their adoring fans
Painted their portraits on the ground.
